Megibung derived from the word "Gibung" which got the prefix "Me-". Where the word "Gibung" which means the activities carried out by many people, which is shared between people with each other. While the prefix "Me-" which means doing an activity. So Megibung is a process or activity that is carried out by people or some people to sit down together to share with each other, especially in terms of food.
This megibung tradition introduced by King of Karangasem, I Gusti Agung is Anglurah Ketut Karangasem Çaka around 1614 or 1692 BC. As at that time, Karangasem an expedition to conquer the Kings are in the land of Lombok.
